SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is related to agriculture, namely to cultivation of perennial tall grass air-water plants. Machine for harvesting tall grass helophytes comprises tractor with attached intermediate trolley, to which transport trolley is fixed. Width of intermediate trolley is more than width of tractor. N reaper-binders are arranged in a row on intermediate trolley. Cutting elements of reapers-binders are directed forward along with machine motion and are mostly arranged outside tractor track. At the same time tractor, intermediate and transport trolleys are arranged with the possibility to provide medium specific pressure at ground of not more than 0.22 kg/sq.cm. Method for harvesting crops of tall grass helophytes includes cutting of plants, making bundles out of them and transportation of bundles to transport trolley. After transport trolley has been filled with bundles, machine is stopped, and full transport trolley is replaced with empty transport trolley. Method applies above-described machine.

EFFECT: invention provides for safety of helophyte root system, which results in stable crops of helophytes every year, considerable reduction of negative effect of machine application at area ecosystem.
