DRILLABLE PACKER Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC E21B33/12 

FIELD: oil and gas production.

SUBSTANCE: drillable packer comprises a setting tool accommodating a hydraulic cylinder with a lower seat, a piston with an upward mandrel sub, upper and lower rods. The lower rod has radial canals and is rigidly connected through a tip having working holes to a perforated union nipple plugged at the bottom. A seal assembly comprises a cup, a strain sleeve and a mandrel. The tip incorporates an intercepting valve that is designed as a stopper with an external ring sample. The tip is telescopically inserted into the strain sleeve and in the lower seat. The mandrel has a taper angle 20-25° relative to the packer axis and a united cylindrical external area with the sample having a cone flat face at the top wherein slots are formed. The slots interact with the strain sleeve on the outside and with the cone flat fact of the sample on the inside. On the mandrel, on the outside at the bottom, shear elements fix an end chamfered insert with its external diametre exceeding that of the cylindrical area of the mandrel, and the internal cylindrical surface of the strain sleeve is two-step with smaller diametre at the top.

EFFECT: double one-pass mandreling, tightness of the sealing element at high pressures at the bottom, tightness of the valve, elimination of backward running the mandrel relatively to the strain sleeve at high backfill pump-in pressures.
