SUBSTANCE: there is described an oral adsorbent containing spherical activated coal with modified surface where average particle diametre is 50 to 200 mcm, specific surface area determined by the BET method is 700 m2/g or more, and volume density is less than 0.54 g/ml, total number of acid groups is 0.3 to 1.2 milliequivalent/g, and total number of base groups is 0.20 to 0.9 milliequivalent/g.

EFFECT: oral adsorbent exhibits high adsorptive capacity and adsorbs great amount of toxins while being in the intestines and substantially decreases urine protein washout.
