FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the industry of building materials and can be used when manufacturing articles from corundum refractory concrete. Composition for making corundum refractory concrete contains the following in wt %: electro-cast corundum aggregate 60-80, finely ground electro-cast corundum 8-16, sodium silicate lumps in form of nanoparticles 2-4, finely ground technical alumina 4-8, finely ground diatomite 4-6, alkaline aluminium silicate Na2O 11-12+Al2O3 2-6, water 0.12-0.14 in terms of water/solid phase. The method of making corundum refractory concrete from the said composition involves conversion of sodium silicate lumps into nanoparticles through dehydration dispersion of hydrated sodium silicate lumps at 200-1000°C, where the said lumps are finely ground to specific surface area of 2500-3000 cm2/g, mixing the electro-cast corundum aggregate, finely ground electro-cast corundum and the mixture of finely ground diatomite, technical alumina and said aluminium silicate with addition of an aqueous mixture of sodium silicate lumps in form of nanoparticles at 80-90°C while stirring, and then water at 80-90°C, stirring the obtained mixture, moulding articles from the said mixture and their treatment with a thermal shock at 250-300°C for 1-2 hours with subsequent burning at 1100-1200°C for 1-1.5 hours.

EFFECT: higher compression strength of the articles after burning.
