FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining dry zinc oxide involves loading zinc into a muffles fitted in furnaces divided into two independently operating sections, evaporation of zinc from the muffles through heating with a gas-burner flame, oxidation of zinc vapour with atmospheric oxygen in an oxidation chamber with formation of an aerosol of zinc oxide. The muffles are fitted in the furnace with inclination of 2-3° towards the oxidation chamber. Zinc is loaded into the muffle in molten form obtained in a nozzle to the muffles at temperature of 500-550°C. The muffles are heated to 1250-1400°C and air in the oxidation chamber is fed while heated to 150-250°C. The obtained aerosol of zinc oxide is transported through a pipe through a balancing chamber to a filtering apparatus using a vacuum fan. Dry zinc oxide is separated from air using sleeve filters of the filtering apparatus and is unloaded from the containers of the filtering apparatus into a packing container.
EFFECT: simple design and easier replacement of broken-down mufflers with new ones, longer service life of the mufflers, low energy consumption.
