FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for automatic control of particle size in a stream of material involves periodical probing of particles of the material with a micrometric probe with conversion of the measured particles during their period of fixation with a probing mechanism into an electrical signal of an inductive transducer. A given threshold value Un of the signal of the inductive transducer for measuring the particles is then set. Further, the average value of n-minimum values of the electrical signal of the inductive transducer is calculated in a range of values lower than the given threshold in each measurement cycle. The value of the control size of the pulp (medium) is defined as a value which is functionally dependent on the average value of n-minimum values of the electrical signal of the converter in each measurement cycle. In the method for automatic control of particle size, the value of the given threshold signal (Un) and the number of averaged minimum values are selected based on the condition: Um>Un≥Um n n≥3, where Um n is the value of signal corresponding to the maximum possible particle size; Um is the maximum possible value of the signal of the transducer in a measurement cycle.
EFFECT: more accurate measurement of particle size only during its fixation.
