FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly to production of wear-resistant articles from titanium carbide-based composite material. It can be used for producing ball gate valves and plain bearing sleeves. Sintered porous carbide half stuff is produced by vibration compaction of titanium carbide powder and sintering it in furnace with non-oxidising atmosphere. Sintered half stuff if subjected to infiltration by metal melts in heating chamber formed by graphite muffles closed by top and bottom graphite covers. Heating of muffle and extra heating of impregnating metal is performed by high-frequency currents in variable electromagnetic field of inductor.
EFFECT: simplified high-efficiency process.
