FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of monitoring stability of reference and precision thermometres during their use involves measurement of the output signal of the thermometre at constant temperature. The thermometre is immersed into a small ampoule containing pure gallium and then heated in a solid-state thermostat of a microprocessor temperature calibrator. The output electrical signal of the thermometre is continuously recorded in form of a melting curve for 30-60 minutes after reaching the horizontal part of the gallium melting curve which corresponds to thermodynamic equilibrium of the gallium liquid and solid phases, for subsequent monitoring of stability of thermometres from said measurement results.

EFFECT: cutting on labour, increased accuracy and reproducibility of monitoring stability of thermometres.
