FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used for producing seamless rails. Wheel blank is subjected to upsetting and rough stamping. Said jobs are performed by wheel rim external surface gauging simultaneously with forming the ledge on forged piece face surface on the side of load application. Rim outer surface features the shape of truncated cone with apex angle varying from 24° to 90°. Then forged piece is subjected to finishing stamping in bottom die with pass. Aforesaid ledge is formed to sizes that correspond to those of bottom die pass. Thereafter, forged piece is subjected to rolling and gauging.
EFFECT: higher precision.
