SUBSTANCE: automated information system for providing software and hardware components with compatibility in heterogeneous information environments comprises the following, connected by data transmission channels: a unit for entering information on components of the created new or upgraded system which meet open system requirements, an automated system for supporting the profile structure includes series-connected unit for selecting functional services which can select standard and enter special services of the analysed information system, a unit for selecting information services which can create a list of standard information services, a unit for selecting information technology (IT) services which can distribute services into groups corresponding to the model of the analysed information system and a unit for selecting IT standards which can create a list of alternative standards with selection of their properties, performing numerical analysis and selecting priority standards.

EFFECT: broader functionalities owing to multiple-criteria selection of alternative standards, setting linguistic criteria for selecting standards, as well as possibility of automatic ranking of standards with selection of acceptability assessment.
