FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical absorbents for dry neutralisation of toxic gases and can be used in different industries in cleaning up gas emissions. The chemical absorbent for neutralising gas emissions has strobili of softwood which are mercerised with an alkali metal hydroxide and possibly further treated with solutions selected from the group: calcium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, sulphur-containing salt of one or more alkali metals in which the oxidation state of sulphur is not greater than +4. When preparing the absorbent for use, the mercerised strobili are loaded into an adsorber with moisture content of 15-30 wt % and dried at temperature 40-200°C to moisture content of 1-10 wt %.
EFFECT: high efficiency of neutralising gas emissions.
