FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to oil industry, and namely to operating method of string of pump rods. Operating method of string of pump rods involves research of twisting-off intensity of string of rods and replacement of failed rod. At that, string of rods is separated into sections depending on various operating conditions throughout the length of the well, intensity of failures is statically determined at operation in sections with various conditions throughout the length of the well. At that, expected level of value of intensity of failures is set depending on economic feasibility of operation. When twisting-off intensity of rods is higher than the set expected level, only the appropriate section in which intensity of twist-offs has been increased is changed; at that, rods and sections are replaced considering the strength and place of installation.

EFFECT: increasing useful output of rod equipment, enlarging the period of accident-free operation of rod pump plants and improving lifetime owing to the possibility of detecting weak sections of rod string and their replacement with stronger ones.
