FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oil industry and can be used to operate production wells equipped with rod pumps, including screw pumps for rod centering and pipe protection. Rod centralizer comprises a shroud bushing with end outer stoppers fixed relative to the rod and directed along its outer surface and a movable element in the form of a centralizer with conical chamfers at the ends. Outer diameter of the shroud bushing is not less than the diameter of the rod clutch, and on its outer surface the longitudinal or helical grooves are evenly made. Centralizer is made in the form of a hollow cylinder with longitudinal passages, which are evenly disposed along the diameter. Centralizer is ratably mounted on the shroud bushing with the possibility of limited longitudinal movement between the stoppers, ant at least one stopper is removable.

EFFECT: wider field of use due to the possibility of using in wells with inclined, curved and horizontal sections and increased work reliability are provided.
