METHOD TO DETECT CHARACTERISTICS OF AIRCRAFT MODEL SPIN AND DEVICE FOR ITS REALISATION Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC G01M9/02

FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to experimental aerodynamics, in particular, to detection of characteristics of spin of geometrically and dynamically similar freely flying model of aircraft (AC) in air flow of vertical aerodynamic tube. Method consists in launching of geometrically and dynamically similar freely spinning model of aircraft into flow of vertical aerodynamic tube, detection of model weighting moment in the flow, detection of time dependence of dynamic characteristics of aircraft model and deviation of each of steers by angles, taking model out of flow. Besides, aircraft model is equipped with internal platform-free inertial metering device, system of model steers deviation control and measurement of their position, signals from which are sent along communication lines into control computer module. Prior to tests the model is installed onto supporting coordinate table, setting initial position of model relative to working part of aerodynamic tube. Then periodical registration is started into memory of control computer module of steers position and space position of model, and any set algorithm of flight control is executed automatically during the flight with the help of control computer module. On completion of flight produced characteristics of aircraft model spin are read, calculated, and produced characteristics of spin are built.

EFFECT: expansion of resources for detection of all dynamic characteristics of AC model spin and methods for withdrawal from it, increased validity of control laws modelling in spin, higher efficiency in detection of spin characteristics and productivity of aerodynamic tube operation, and also increased accuracy of spin characteristics detection and methods of withdrawal from it.
