FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: fibre is made from aromatic polyamide which contains a structural repeating unit of formula (1) and a structural repeating unit of formula (2) in amount of 30 mol % or more in terms of the total number of structural links of aromatic polyamide - CO - Ar1 - CO - NH - Ar2 - NH - (1) 
(2), where Ar1 is an unsubstituted or substituted divalent aromatic group and Ar2 is an unsubstituted benzene ring. The fibre is characterised by strength of 20 cN/dtex or more and Young's modulus of elasticity of 500 cN/dtex or more. The protective clothing material is made from said fibre or several types of fibre including said fibre.
EFFECT: high reliability of materials for protective clothing.
