FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: documents are indexed using low-priority input/output requests. The low-priority input/output requests can be used to access documents to be indexed. Low-priority input/output requests can also be used to record information into the index. Higher-priority requests can be used for input/output requests for accessing an index in response to user requests. The priority of input/output requests can be setup on a stream basis in contrast to setup on a processor basis (which can generate two or more streams for which assignment of different priorities can be desirable).
EFFECT: high rate of processing requests.
