FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to ophthalmology, and can be applied in treatment of optical neuritis. For this purpose, at the background of basic therapy intravenously introduced is 1% solution of nicotinic acid. In first day doze of nicotinic acid constitutes 2 ml, in following days it is daily increased by 0.5-1 ml to 4-8 ml, then successively daily it is reduced by 0.5-1 ml to initial doze. Additionally, after each injection of nicotinic acid intravenous drop infusion of 2% pentoxiphenyline 5 ml on physiological solution in doze 100-200 ml is carried out.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to recover visual functions due to high, with simultaneous introduction of nicotinic acid and pentoxiphenyline, vasodilating, angio-protective, anti-aggregation effects, improvement of blood microcirculation in affected area of optic nerve, normalisation of oxidation-reduction processes and tissue breathing.
