METHOD TO BIOLOGICALLY COMBAT PYRALID PLODIA INTERPUNCTELLA USING ICHNEUMON-FLIES BRACON HEBETOR IN PREMISES FOR BREEDING BUMBLEBEES Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A01M1/00 

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture and forestry and is aimed at increasing efficiency of Plodia interpunctella pyralids destruction, at reducing damage to bumblebees, and also for reduction of specific power and materials costs. Method to biologically combat pyralid Plodia interpunctella using ichneumon flies Bracon hebetor in premises for breeding bumblebees includes reproduction of host and parasite cultures and settlement of the latter in rearing cages. The host is the culture of a butterfly from pyralid family Plodia interpunctella, and the parasite - culture of an ichneumon fly Bracon hebetor. Pyralid culture is bred on a food substrate arranged in cages insulated with two layers of cloth. Inner layer is made of a mesh with size of 1 mm, which is permeable for ichneumon flies and pyralid caterpillars, but is not permeable for pyralid butterflies, and the external layer is made of a mesh with cell size of less than 0.2 mm, which is not permeable for caterpillars, butterflies and ichneumon flies, and after mass appearance of large caterpillars the cage is populated with ichneumon flies. After mass appearance of chrysalises and grown ichneumon flies, the cages are placed in a tray surrounded with a heated wire along the edge, which prevents population of pyralid caterpillars, and external layer of cloth is removed to populate ichneumon flies in premises with bumblebees or in a photoeclector designed to collect ichneumon flies, which are then used to populate new cages.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to improve efficiency of destruction of Plodia interpunctella pyralids, to reduce damage to bumblebees, and also to reduce specific power and material inputs.
