SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the industry of construction materials and making expanded clay. The crude mixture for preparing expanded clay contains the following in wt %: clay material 75.0-78.0; glass which is ground to specific surface area 2500-3500 cm2/g 2.0-3.0 and gypsum 0.5-1.0; water 19.0-21.0.
EFFECT: high water resistance of the expanded clay, which is characterised by softening coefficient of 0,75 and high strength of the expanded clay.
