FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to contact welding and may be used in producing pipes for oil wells. Strip 20 is formed and its edges are jointed together and subjected to contact resistance welding to produce pipe. In forming, rounded edge or edge inclined from perpendicular by 25° to 50° is produced in pass arranged directly ahead of contact resistance welding machine. Note that perpendicular length from inclination start to end equals 20% - 40% of strip thickness on, at least, one side of the strip and on the side of its top or bottom surface.

EFFECT: high quality of welded joint.
