ELECTROLYSIS UNIT FOR OBTAINING HYDROGEN AND OXYGEN BY ELECTROLYSIS OF WATER SOLUTION OF ELECTROLYTE Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C25B1/06

Abstract RU 2418887 C2

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: electrolysis unit includes anode and cathode chambers located in common housing and having monopolar electrodes - anode and cathode, which are connected to constant voltage source; at that, anode chamber is separated from cathode one with electrically insulating partition which does not touch the bottom of common housing and on which UV radiation source is installed. Anode and cathode chambers are connected to deionisation chamber by means of pipelines, as well as to dissociation chamber through ion separator with electric gradient field and through intakes of waste water solution of electrolyte from upper layers of electrolyte. In anode and cathode chambers between anodes and cathodes there installed are additional electrodes connected to each other by common conductor which connects plus and minus outputs of both dc power supply units, the other ends of which are connected to anode and cathode respectively; at that, one power supply unit supplies stabilised constant voltage which is minimum required for oxygen separation on the anode, and the other one supplies stabilised constant voltage which is minimum required for hydrogen separation on cathode.

EFFECT: reducing the costs for electric power supply, eliminating irrational expenses of electric and chemical energy, and providing acceleration of electrolysis processes.
