METHOD TO EXPAND NESTING SPACE IN MULTIPLE-STOREY HIVE Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A01K47/00

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture. The proposed method of nesting space expansion in a multiple-storey hive consists in the following. When a hive is assembled, separatory plates are placed between the storeys. Then hive storeys are fixed one relative to another with the help of thrust parts. Thrust parts are fixed at the angles of side walls of a storey as protruding along height beyond the storey limits by 28 mm so that the ledges in the upper storey thrust parts enter according cuts in thrust parts of the lower storey. At the same time a gap is formed between the protruding thrust part of the upper storey and a cut in the lower storey thrust part. Gaps produced between thrusts under storeys mastered with bees are increased serially one after another with the help of a lever. A veneer wedge is placed into produced gaps between parts of adjacent storey thrusts, afterwards the lever is removed. Through a produced slot of 2 mm a separatory plate is removed, increasing the volume of nesting space. After removal of the separatory plate, the wedge is removed between the thrust parts, as a result of which the upper storey mastered with bees will lower down to the lower one without a gap.

EFFECT: invention ensures reduced labour expenditures of a bee keeper with expansion of a nesting space, eliminates injuries of bees and their contact with a person.
