FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: technologies are described to carry out token service passing in order to maintain call continuity for user equipment (UE). UE may maintain communication with the first cell in a radio access network (RAN) for a call with packet switching (PS), for instance, to transfer voice along Internet protocol (VoIP) by means of high-speed packet access (HSPA) in W-CDMA. UE may send reports on measurements to RAN and may receive start-up signal from RAN. UE may establish a call with channel switching (CS) with the first cell, while the PS call is delayed in the first cell. The PS call and the CS call may be intended for a voice call, and UE may switch data track for a voice call from the PS call to the CS call, and then end the PS call. UE may then carry out token passing of service in the CS call from the first cell to the second cell, which may not support VoIP.
EFFECT: improved throughput capacity.
