FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in cold heading of rod-type stepped grooved parts like shafts, axles, pins, inserted ribbed bolts. Billet is cut to diameter selected to match diameter of rod whereon grooves are to be rolled. Rod is reduced, head with flat is formed and grooves are rolled. Rod reduction in first pass is combined with shaping truncated-cone section and cylindrical section. Smaller diameter of truncated cone equals billet diameter. Height of grooved section makes L1= (0.4 ÷ 0.6) L"нак", where L"нак" is total height of step to be grooved. Cylindrical section diameter equals that of finished product grooved section. During next pass, finally shaped is height of step whereon grooves are to be rolled with pre-made step diameter unchanged. Head shaping is performed in three passes to produce flat prior to rolling grooves.
EFFECT: higher quality of finished products.
