SUBSTANCE: in a modem (1), specifically for underwater communication over an electric power transmission line, having electronic components (3, 4) on a printed circuit board (2) and a metal housing (5), the housing forms at least two chambers (7, 8) divided by at least one wall (6), wherein each of the said chambers (7, 8) surrounds at least one of said electronic components (3, 4). The first chamber (7) surrounds analogue transmitting and receiving components (4), and the second chamber (8) surrounds analogue-digital and digital-analogue components (12, 14).

EFFECT: modem having improved screening properties, which significantly reduces electronic interference or noise.
