FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Water-cooled metal mould cavity houses 10 mm-thick plug-in rods made from cold hardening carbamide furan or phenol furan composition. Molten cast iron is filled in metal mould cavity. In 20-30 seconds, after primary crystallised crust on hard metal is formed, split mould halves are moved apart by 2-3 mm. Air gap formed allows heating brake shoe surface to be heated to 850-950°C. Curing at said temperature eliminates formation of chill spot on shoe non-working surfaces.
EFFECT: higher quality of casting with surface corresponding to 4th-5th finishing class.
