FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: water-salt solution of glucose is prepared by putting glucose solution into a 100 cm3 measuring flask and brought to the mark with a saturated solution of a salting-out agent in form of a ammonium sulphate. Glucose is then extracted with n-butyl alcohol by adding n-butyl alcohol to the obtained solution in volume ratio of the water-salt solution of glucose to n-butyl alcohol equal to 7:1. After demixing of the system, the aqueous phase is separated from the organic phase, and reaction with thymol takes place in the presence of sulphuric acid and analysis is performed using a photometric method. To this end, optical density of the water-salt solution is measured on a photocolorimeter at wavelength 490 nm. Concentration of glucose in the aqueous phase is determined using a calibration curve. The distribution coefficient (D) and extraction ratio (R, %) are calculated using formulae: where Corg and Caq denotes concentration of glucose in the organic and aqueous phase after extraction, respectively; f is the volume ratio of equilibrium aqueous and organic phases.
EFFECT: use of the method enables virtually complete one-off extraction of glucose from an aqueous solution and determination of its content in the aqueous solution.
