SUBSTANCE: invention refers to animal breeding, particularly to methods for preventing or treating gum or periodontium in an animal. The method for preventing or treating gum or periodontium in an animal provides animal feeding with a composition. The composition contains at least one antioxidant selected from the group consisting of vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, lipoic acid, asta xanthine, beta-carotene, L-carnitine, coenzyme Q10, glutathione, lycopene, lutein, N-acetylcysteine, soya isoflavones, S-adenosylmethionine, taurine, tocotrienols, spinage, tomato, citrus, grapes, carrots, broccoli, green tea, ginkgo biloba, cornflour gluten, rice bran, algae, curcumine, sea oil, fruit, vegetables, yeast, carotenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols and their mixtures where an amount of vitamin C can vary 10 to 10000 portion/million, or 20 to 2000 portion/million, or 25 to 500 portion/million, and an amount of vitamin E - 100 to 5000 portion/million, or 250 to 2500 portion/million, or 500 to 1500 portion/million.
EFFECT: use of the given invention shall enable oral health promotion in animals.
