FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Slag-forming mix is produced by mixing amorphous graphite, fluorine-containing substance and materials containing silicon, aluminium and alkaline metal oxides. Mix contains feldspar mix, soda ash, fine quartzite and cement as materials containing silicon, aluminium and alkaline metal oxides. Mix contains components in the following ratio in wt %: amorphous graphite - 19-26, fluorine-containing substance -13-17, feldspar mix - 15-20, soda ash - 3-8, fine quartzite - 11-15, and cement - making the rest. Mix features basicity (CaO/SiO₂) of 0.5-1.1 and the following chemical composition in wt %: C 14.0-20.0, CaO 19.0-31.0, SiO₂ 28.0-38.0, Al₂O₃ 3.0-8.0, F 4.0-9.0, (Na⁺+K⁺) 4.0-8.0.

EFFECT: higher quality of steel, reduced amount of surface defects.
