FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metal plastic working and may be used for manufacturing of an edge or a rim at a metal billet for bottles. The edge or the crown is made so that a closing lid may be installed. The billet is processed at a forming machine, which comprises at least one mandrel for edges making and at least one rolling mandrel, which are rotary and are made with the possibility to be installed at the upper end section, a facility for interaction with each other to produce a crown, a facility to position and retain the metal reservoir during treatment. At the first stage the upper end section of the metal reservoir is serially deformed to produce an edge or a rim of substantially round cross section. At the second stage the rim is drawn to the lower part of the metal reservoir. At the final stage the rim is given a complex oval profile to ensure installation of lids of at least two different types.
EFFECT: technological capabilities are expanded.
