FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of concentrated silicon oxide sol and a method of producing silicon oxide sol modified with sodium aluminate. The method involves preparation of aqueous solution of sodium silicate with 4-5% concentration, ion-exchange conversion of the sodium silicate solution into polysilicic acid, addition of polysilicic acid solution and sodium aluminate solution by turns to embryonic sol - silica sol with silicon oxide content of 30-40 g/l at a rate of 10-30 ml/min - polysilicic acid solution and 5-15 ml/min - sodium aluminate solution with intense stirring at temperature 90-95°C, preliminary filtration of the modified silicon oxide sol followed by concentration of the solution by filtration using a block of membranes with tangential distribution of liquid flow.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain silicon oxide sol with low content of sodium oxide which do not turn into gel-like state and do not form sediments during storage.
