FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing calcium sulphate dihydrate involves treating calcium-containing material with concentrated sulphuric acid and filtering the obtained suspension. The concentrated sulphuric acid used is spent acid from chloride compressors containing 85-93% H2SO4. The calcium-containing material used is an aqueous suspension of calcium hydroxide containing 50-60 g/dm3 CaO.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain gypsum with low content of impurities while improving environmental friendliness due to neutralisation of spent sulphuric acid.
