FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry. The reforming catalyst in aqueous phase contains: a) a carbon support containing carbon modified with titanium, vanadium, tungsten or rhenium, and a catalyst composition attached to the carbon support. The catalyst composition contains Re and a second metal selected from a group consisting of Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt, Rh and Ru, and Ce or La, attached to the carbon support of catalyst composition. In order to reform oxygen-containing hydrocarbons, a crude solution containing water and at least 20 wt % oxygen-containing hydrocarbon, in terms of total weight of the crude solution, is brought into contact with a reforming catalyst at temperature and pressure reaction conditions sufficient for obtaining gaseous hydrogen and alkanes having 1-8 carbon atoms. The oxygen-containing hydrocarbon has at least one oxygen atom. The reforming catalyst contains rhenium and at least one group VIII transition metal on a water-resistant support.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of the process of reforming oxygen-containing hydrocarbons.
