FIELD: electronics.
SUBSTANCE: visual display unit comprises translucent housing 1 with its external side having a blue-coloured layer 2 with a lumen 3 shaped as the first character. A second red-colored layer 4 with a lumen 5 shaped as the second character is applied to the interior side of housing 1. Two LEDs are located at the interior side of housing 1: a red one 6 and a blue one 7. The spectral radiation band of LED 6 coincides with the absorption band of layer 2 and the spectral radiation band of LED 7 coincides with the absorption band of layer 4. A register switchboard 8 is provided.
EFFECT: increased number of displayed characters.
