FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of forming (expanding) phase direction-finding characteristics (PDC) with a working section of given angular width in one or two orthogonal planes using one or two orthogonal pairs of receiving elements at fixed distances d1 and d2 between pair elements. The initial data used to form a PDC in each of the orthogonal planes is phase difference of signals at outputs of receiving pair elements measured at two frequencies, and the PDC itself is formed as difference of said signal phase differences corresponding to different frequencies. The method is used in cases when the working section of the direction-finding characteristic, determined at operating frequency, has angular width less than required.
EFFECT: formation of PDC with given width at fixed distance between pairs of receiving antennae.
