FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ammonium sulphate and can be used in chemical industry, particularly in the technology of mineral fertilisers. The method involves using ammonia to neutralise dump and quarry water of spend deposits of iron-copper-zinc sulphide ore containing 1-40 g/l iron (II) sulphate, 2-10 g/l sulphuric acid and trace element sulphates. Neutralisation is carried out until achieving reaction mixture pH of 4.5-5. The obtained precipitate is separated from ammonium sulphate solution by settling and filtration. The obtained ammonium sulphate solution is further neutralised with ammonia to pH 6.5-7, evaporated and the crystals are separated and dried to obtain the dry end product with trace elements.
EFFECT: achieving high quality of the end product, rational use of components of the starting material and simple process of producing ammonium sulphate.
