FIELD: inorganic chemistry, fertilizer production based on ammonium nitrate and carbonate raw materials, such as dolomite or magnesium carbonate.

SUBSTANCE: claimed method includes providing of 87-93 % ammonium nitrate solution, boiling down thereof, mixing with calcium carbonate or magnesium carbonate, or dolomite in presence of magnesium sulfate and/or nitrate followed by granulation and cooling of target product. 87-93 % Ammonium nitrate solution before boiling down in the first step is mixed with solution of magnesium sulfate and/or nitrate at pH 1.5-3.0; and in the second step solution is neutralized to pH <5.0. pH value in the first step is adjusted by dosing of nitric or sulfuric acid or by controlling of nitric or sulfuric acid content in composition of magnesium salt solution in region of 1.5-1.7 %; and neutralizing is carried out with gaseous ammonia. magnesium salt solution is dosed in such a manner to provide water-soluble calcium and magnesium forms in target product calculated as MgO(hydrous)+CaO(hydrous) of 0.3-0.9 % in MgO(hydrous)/CaO(hydrous) ratio of at least 2.0, preferably 3.0-4.0. Method of present invention makes it possible to increase strength of fertilizer granules by 5-50 %.

EFFECT: fertilizer of high quality with low content of calcium nitrate.
