FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: chrome-plated component has a body, a layer of corrosion-distribution coating which is a layer of corrosion-resistant nickel coating or a copper-tin alloy coating with micropores or microcracks, a layer of trivalent chromium coating with thickness of 0.05-2.5 mcm, containing 1-7 at % Fe, and a film of a chromium compound with thickness of not less than 7 nm, formed via cathode acidic electrolytic chrome plating. The method involves formation of a layer of corrosion-distribution coating meant to distribute corrosion current over the body, formation of a layer of trivalent chromium coating using basic chromium sulphate as a metal source and formation of a film of a chromium compound via cathode acidic electrolytic chrome plating.
EFFECT: obtaining a chrome-plated corrosion-resistant component, having a silver-white finish similar to hexavalent chrome plating.
