FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the method and device to test time of travel for monitoring of time for travel of a transported shipment, in particular, a mail item, in which movement of a mail item for subsequent assessment of transportation process is recorded and stored in the device of travel time test, for this purpose the device of travel time test is equipped with sensors, GPS-receivers and carriers for their storage, in its dimensions and properties substantially complying with the monitored transported shipment, and a current type of transportation is identified with the help of a microprocessor based on the sensors' data. To make it possible to monitor time of travel and path of transportation of standard letter and similar mail items during several days, the method and the device are proposed to test the travel time, in which a receiver for a geopositioning system (GPS) with satellite support, depending on varying conditions of reception and/or current type of transportation of the transported shipment, may be purposely connected and disconnected.
EFFECT: expansion of functional capabilities of shipments travel monitoring.
