FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: first time reference associated with a first signal received at a receiver is obtained; a second time reference associated with a second signal from a second transmitter is obtained based on the first time reference and on an estimated difference between a first range to the first transmitter from the receiver and a second range to the second transmitter from the receiver. When obtaining the second time reference, uncertainty associated with said estimated difference is checked, which involves determining that said uncertainty is less than the threshold value associated with duration of information in said second signal from the second transmitter.
EFFECT: high accuracy of positioning with relatively low consumption of power and processing resources.
