FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in domestic water supply, food, chemical and medical industries for water pretreatment before further integrated water treatment by desalination. Membrane unit comprises initial water feed pump 1, battery of separation units built around hollow-fiber ultra filtration membranes 5, initial water feed line 3, filtrate discharge line 8 with shutoff valve 9, and filtrate tank 10. Rinsing pump 11 is communicated, via suction branch pipe with filtrate tank 10 and pressure branch pipe with check valve 12, with filtrate discharge line 8. Compressor unit 13 is connected to compressed air feed line 14 with shutoff valve 15 and compensator 14 to feed compressed air to apparatuses 5. Three-way valve 2 communicates with initial water pump 1 via its inlet, and, via one outlet, is communicates with line 3 feeding initial water to 5 and, via another outlet, with rinsing water discharge line 4. Proposed method comprises filtration without discharge of concentrate recovery of separation apparatuses via backflow filtrate filtration.

EFFECT: decreased discharge of rinsing waters, longer life, higher efficiency.
