FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: peat is treated with solution of sodium hydroxide in isopropyl alcohol during 1-6 h at 50-100°C. Then, it is treated with monochloracetic acid during 1-6 h at 50-100°C. The obtained product has good water solubility and water-alkali solutions.
EFFECT: method allows decreasing temperatures of alkali treatment of lignocarbohydrate material and enlarging the raw material stock for obtaining humin-bearing products.
