FIELD: peat products.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical modification of peat and is intended for the production of sodium salts of carboxymethyl esters of humic materials. The method of carboxymethylation of peat includes the treatment of the initial air-dry peat with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium monochloroacetate (Na-MCA) in the following molar ratio: 1-3 mol of NaOH and 1-3 mol of Na-MCA per 1 mol of OH groups of peat and superheated steam in an explosive autohydrolysis apparatus for 10-30 min at 190-210°C and pressure of 1.42-2.03 MPa.
EFFECT: proposed method for carboxymethylation of peat provides a reduction in the duration of the technological process, an increase in the solubility of peat processing products in water, and imparts technological properties to flushing fluids used in the drilling of oil and gas wells.
