FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to use of paraffin base oil in lubrication oil to reduce nitrogen emissions from a compression ignition engine, where paraffin base oil contains (i) a continuous range of iso-paraffins with n, n+1, n+2, n+3 and n+4 carbon atoms, where the value of n lies between 15 and 40. The invention also relates to use of paraffin base oil in lubrication oil to reduce formation of nitric and nitrous acid in lubrication oil, in which paraffin base oil contains (i) a continuous range of iso-paraffins with n, n+1, n+2, n+3 and n+4 carbon atoms, where the value of n lies between 15 and 40. The invention also relates to a method of producing electric energy with reduced emission of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases, which includes an operating diesel engine lubricated by a lubrication oil composition, where the lubrication oil composition contains base oil or its basic component, having more than 80 wt % paraffin content and more than 98 wt % saturated hydrocarbon content, and containing a range of iso-paraffins with n, n+1, n+2, n+3 and n+4 carbon atoms, where the value of n lies between 15 and 40.
