FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for purifying alkaline wastes has apparatus for feeding starting sulphurous-alkaline wastes and modules for treatment, sulphur extraction and neutralisation. The sulphur extraction module and neutralisation module used are an electrodialysis unit, having a bipolar electrode and a cation-exchange membrane which divides said unit into a cathode chamber and an anode chamber. Alkali is concentrated in the cathode chamber and sulphides are reduced to elementary sulphur in the anode chamber. Electrolysis waste products from the cathode chamber enter a vessel for collecting purified alkali, and wastes from the anode chamber are fed into a storage vessel for elementary sulphur. Clarified wastes are fed into a reverse-osmosis apparatus for separation into a concentrate and purified water. The treatment module includes a separator for separating petroleum products from alkaline wastes, a storage vessel for alkaline wastes purified from petroleum products, an ultrafiltration apparatus, a storage vessel for alkaline wastes post-purified from petroleum products, where said wastes are then fed into the electrodialysis unit.

EFFECT: possibility of extracting elementary sulphur, purified water and recycled alkali without using additional reactants.
