FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pyrotechnic compositions, combustion of which generates a cloud of black smoke used for marking and in signal rockets. The pyrotechnic composition for producing black smoke contains potassium chlorate and crude coal anthracene which contains 2-5 wt % anthracene oil, with the following ratio of components, wt %: potassium chlorate 53-57; anthracene 43-47.
EFFECT: engineering solution increases functional reliability of the pyrotechnic composition, combustion of which generates smoke with a deep black colour, which is well visible and distinctive from a long distance for a long period of time.
