FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agents for forming an aerosol, and more specifically to pyrotechnic compositions which burn intermittently with periodic flares of a coloured flame which creates a twinkling effect, and meant for making signalling and firework articles. The pyrotechnic composition contains barium or strontium nitrate, aluminium-magnesium alloy powder, iditol and ammonium chloride as a flame colour booster, with the following ratio of components, wt %: barium or strontium nitrate 60-65; aluminium-magnesium alloy powder 20-25; ammonium chloride 10-20; iditol (over 100%) 1-2.
EFFECT: invention provides high saturation of the flame colour while increasing flame pulsation frequency multiple times when burning firework and signalling articles.
