FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in welding billets from, for example, high-manganese steel. Zone of contact is heated to fuse adjoining faces of both billets by passing current therein. One of billets is oscillated in fusing. To push oxides from contact zone, billet is turned through 4 to 6 degrees relative to one edge of contact zone and driven back in initial position. Then, billet is turned through 4 to 6 degrees relative to opposite edge of contact zone and driven back in initial position. Billet is swaged in rectilinear motion. Swaging force makes 400 to 450 kN at swaging rate of 160-200 mm/s.
EFFECT: higher strength of joint.
