FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: lubricating composition contains base lubricating oil and 0.1-5.0 wt % mixture of two antioxidants. The first antioxidant is selected from a group consisting of diphenylamine of formula , wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from a group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, styrene and α-alkylstyrene, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 is not hydrogen. The second antioxidant consists of 2,2'-thiobis(4-methyl-6-tert-butyl-phenol). The weight ratio of diphenylamine to 2,2'-thiobis(4-methyl-6-tert-butyl-phenol) is equal to 3:1. The method of increasing oxidation resistance of the lubricating oil involves adding said two antioxidants. The lubricating oil is selected from a group consisting of API Group I, Group II and Group III base mixture.
EFFECT: high oxidation resistance of lubricating oil.
