FIELD: wood working industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technological processes of timber processing and may be used in wood working, furniture and other industries when manufacturing items from wood. The method of thermal treatment of wood includes loading wood into an autoclave, its heating and cooling. After loading, vacuumising is carried out down to 0.2 atm. with subsequent supply of water vapour to the pressure of 0.7-0.8 atm. in the autoclave. Wood is heated with water vapour at the temperature of 180-220°C with subsequent delay for 2-5 hours. Cooling is carried out for at least three times by vacuumising for 15-20 minutes with subsequent supply of saturated water vapour to the pressure value in the autoclave close to the atmospheric one and soaking at this pressure for 5-10 minutes.
EFFECT: implementation of this invention will make it possible to produce timber without a smell of burnt wood.
